A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), also called a Life Plan Community, combines independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing on one campus, usually for an entry fee plus monthly rent. A standalone assisted living community offers one level of care, typically with no large entry fee.
Local CCRC / Life Plan campuses in our coverage area
Twin Lakes (Montgomery), Maple Knoll Village (Springdale), Marjorie P. Lee and Deupree House (Hyde Park, both Episcopal Retirement Services), The Kenwood by Senior Star (Cincinnati), The Seasons (Cincinnati), and the Otterbein SeniorLife campuses (Lebanon, Maineville, Union Township/Batavia, Loveland) all combine multiple levels of care on one site.
Entry-fee structure
CCRC entry fees and their refundability vary widely by contract type and by community -- ask each campus directly for its current entry-fee structure and refund policy in writing before comparing.
When standalone is the more flexible choice
A standalone assisted living or memory care community is usually simpler and less expensive to enter, which matters most for a family that needs a placement quickly or is not certain the resident will need skilled nursing later.
